A rare murder conviction for an ex-cop in the Philippines

The previous president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, ramped up a so-called war on drugs in 2016 that led to the deaths of thousands of people, possibly tens of thousands, by vigilante groups and police officers. This week, a former cop was convicted of murdering two teenagers. That’s extremely rare. It was only the second time a police officer was convicted of killing someone connected to the drug war. From Manila, Ashley Westerman reports.
