A little greenery to remind immigrants of their home countries

In Houston’s paved-over neighborhood of Gulfton — a melting pot of immigrants from Latin America, Africa and Central Asia –- residents with a green thumb are beautifying their communities with robust porch plant gardens. The gardens also serve as a conduit for immigrants to connect with the plants and people they have left behind in their home countries. Elizabeth Trovall has the story.
