Wikimania hits Egypt
Wikimania 2008 took place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina recently, and members gathered to talk about growing and spreading free multi-lingual content.
Wikimania hits EgyptAlexandria, the second largest city in Egypt, is home to Bibliotheca Alexandrina -- a new state-of-the-art library, and the perfect setting for Wikimania 2008 -- the annual meeting of the Wikipedia Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to growing and spreading free multi-lingual content.
One of the issues at Wikimania 2008: how to increase the number of articles in Arabic -- currently at 64,000 compared to 2.5 million in English.
Another challenge: vandalism on Wikipedia.
Also, Satellite technology that will help tourists find the remains of the Berlin wall and the latest news and sport to your mobile phone; how traditional broadcasters are playing catch-up.
