Yochai Maital is the co-creator of Israel Story — a storytelling podcast in Hebrew that has recently launched an English version in collaboration with Tablet Magazine.

Maital grew up in Haifa, Israel, but now can't imagine calling anywhere but Tel Aviv his home. After eight years as an intelligence officer in the army, he embarked on a new trajectory, and started studying creative writing at Tel Aviv's Minshar College for Arts.

Ecologically minded, Yochai has built multiple eco-houses, and co-founded Tel Aviv’s first (and still only) organic food Co-op. He also served as a full-time instructor at a local hostel for juvenile delinquents, and was (and remains) active in the African refugee community. He lives with his wife, two-year-old old daughter Eliana, and, of course, Trotsky the dog.
