I'm a public policy analyst in Washington DC focusing on women's issues, particularly those that arise from motherhood and family caregiving.  I promote women's  economic security and political engagement through Mom-mentum (formerly the National Association of Mothers' Centers).  I also serve as the Director of Outreach for the Caring Economy Campaign, working to make care, both paid and unpaid, a central part of our social infrastructure and core component of our global competitiveness.  My work  is regularly featured on BlogHer and has appeared in Brain/Child Magazine and The Shriver Report, Follow my blog, Your (Wo)Man in Washington, and find me on Twitter@WomanInDC and on Facebook as Valerie Young and Your (Wo)Man in Washington.
