Stephen Franklin is a former labor writer and foreign correspondent for the Chicago Tribune. He has also worked in newspapers in Detroit, Philadelphia and Miami. He has trained journalists in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and created an online course for Arab journalists to cover labor and economic issues. He teaches at the School of Labor and Employee Relations at the University of Illinois and is the author of "Three Strikes: Labor's Heartland Losses and What They Mean for Working Americans."
