Unit ManagerAs Unit Manager for "The World," Mary Lou is responsible for processing payments for "The World’s" correspondents and contributors, among other duties.Mary Lou came to "The World" from WGBH’s Production Services Department where she was the Television Scheduler for Local Programming. She joined "The World" as a part-time Associate Producer and then moved into the Unit Manager’s position.A graduate of Suffolk University’s Journalism Department, Mary Lou worked as an Associate Producer at Boston’s Channel 7 under the WNAC call letters. Prior to that she was a Production Assistant for Ireland’s national television station, Radio Telefis Eirann, (RTE).“It can be a bit daunting,” she says, “trying to get a payment to a far-flung correspondent in a country where the banks aren’t always dependable. But, with the expertise of WGBH’s Accounting Department, we’re usually successful.”
