Maggie Fick

Maggie Fick is an American researcher and writer based in Juba, the capital of southern Sudan. As the field researcher for the Washington, D.C.-based Enough Project, Fick analyzes political trends and current events in Sudan. She has recently appeared as a commentator on Sudanese politics on CNN, National Public Radio, and in international print media.

Before joining Enough’s policy team in Washington in 2008, Fick was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Niger, where she researched the role of women in urban and rural Tuareg society. While in Niger, she studied Tamashek and Hausa and wrote freelance articles about Nigerien culture and society.

Her writings from West Africa appeared in the International Herald Tribune, the Washington Post, the Guardian Weekly, among other publications. Fick holds a Bachelor's degree in international relations from Pomona College, is fluent in French, and has traveled extensively in West and East Africa.

The Enough Project is helping to build a permanent constituency to prevent genocide and crimes against humanity.
