On Monday, a military band in New York played at the commemoration marking 22 years since the 9/11 attacks. Every year at the memorial in lower Manhattan, all of the nearly 3,000 victims’ names are read aloud. Among them, Alexander Filipov. The electrical engineer and church deacon from Concord, Massachusetts, was killed on American Airlines flight 11, the first plane to hit the twin towers that fateful morning. His son David Filipov is a journalist who went to Afghanistan soon after the attacks. He took a turn on “Stories From The Stage,” to talk about how he’s handled the death of his father.
