On this episode, a story of American small town life by J. Robert Lennon and James Thurber's 'The Wood Duck.'
J. Robert Lennon's "Eight Pieces for the Left Hand," is a segmented story of American small town life, threaded through with the seven movements of Ned Rorem's quartet "United States." The story is read by Stephen Lang; the Ying Quartet performs the Rorem.
James Thurber's "The Wood Duck," read by Malachy McCourt, is the light hearted finish to the program.
