About Leonard Lopate
Lopate came to radio relatively late in life. He was trained as a serious painter (he studied with Ad Reinhardt and Mark Rothko) and worked in advertising for fifteen years. But when he was given a chance to host his first talk show in 1977, he was hooked. What began as a momentary whim has become his life’s work.Little known facts about Leonard
He marketed records for Slim Whitman and Boxcar Willie, and knows enough Cantonese to order the best dim sum in Chinatown.PRI’s presentation of "The Leonard Lopate Show" on XM Satellite Radio is made possible through American Public Radio, a partnership of Public Radio International, Chicago Public Radio®, WGBH Radio Boston and WNYC, New York Public Radio®.
