Barbie Berlin Dreamhouse draws protests, hand-wringing over opening

Barbie has a new home in Berlin — and it's literally life-sized. But the protests have been out-sized as well. The Barbie Berlin Dreamhouse opened on Thursday, but protests have already been intensifying. On one recent day, protesters strapped a Barbie doll to a cross and set the cross on fire. Protesters say Barbie sends the wrong message.

As legality of circumcision is debated, U.S. group recommends the practice

A German doctor filed a criminal complaint against a Jewish mohel for performing ritual circumcisions in that country — a practice one court found to be illegal. Meanwhile, in the United States Monday, the American Academy of Pediatrics revised its position and recommended circumcision as a beneficial practice for infant boys.

Doreen Kutzke started yodeling when she was six years old in her home country of East Germany. But she grew embarrassed of her talent and soon quit. After the Berlin Wall fell, Kutzke moved to Berlin, where she worked as a DJ. Eventually, she rediscovered her passion for yodeling.
