University students rally to get endowments out of fossil fuels

A number of college students across the country are trying to convince the administrators running their endowments that for the good of everyone, they need to stop investing in fossil fuel companies. A similar effort around South African businesses was an important part in ending apartheid.

Connecticut shooting: Visibly upset Obama reacts to Newtown school shooting

Some 20 children and six adults were killed when an armed man stormed into a school in Newtown, Conn., and opened fire. The gunman himself died, though the circumstances around his death remain undetermined. Another adult was also killed in a related crime at a separate location.

A report from The Chronicle of Higher Education looks at schools around the country that are offering quick classes many athletes use to maintain their academic eligibility. In one course at Western Oklahoma State College, students can take a 3-credit class, in 10 days, where they learn about making computer folders and minimizing and maximizing computer windows.
