Welcome; I'm glad you're interested in knowing more about how news shapes the way we see the world.

This map represents the number of seconds dedicated to coverage from the news networks, including CNN, allocated by country in March of 2007.

I wish I could tell you that this month was special, that Americans get a more balanced world view, other months ... but they don't. In fact, we are lucky to have even 20% of reporting that covers our world or globally interconnected topics. The same is true, by the way, of important beats right here at home, like education, science, the enviroment, and women and children. These beats can end up being less than 5-10% each month COMBINED!

So what can be done?

We are building a movement of people who care about our world, quality journalism and storytelling for our democracy.
