PRI's The World to air 5-part series on Cancer in the Developing World
PRI's The World reports on cancer awareness, detection and treatment in Uganda, India, Haiti and the U.S.
Beginning December 3, PRI’s The World will air a series of reports about cancer awareness, detection and treatment in the countries of Uganda, India, Haiti and the U.S. Reported by Joanne Silberner, former health correspondent for NPR, the series will take us to Uganda’s only cancer hospital to meet a man who was, until recently, the country’s only cancer doctor. She’ll take us to India to learn about a simple, inexpensive test that could save the lives of tens of thousands of women each year. We’ll go with her to Haiti, where the international charity Partners In Health is making a bold push to treat breast cancer. Additional content provided at The World’s website and on social media will provide people with a closer look at cancer worldwide.
