Femicide in Mexico

The World

Violence against women is a major issue in Mexico. An average of 10 women were killed every day last year, according to official government figures. This past week, thousands of women have been marching as a response to the grizzly murder of a 25-year-old woman who was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, and a seven-year-old girl who was abducted and found dead in Mexico City. Host Marco Werman speaks with Estefanía Vela Barba, director of Intersecta, a Mexico City NGO dedicated to ending gender discrimination.
