When it comes to H1-B visas, the visas that are supposed to be reserved for bringing the world's best and brightest to the United States, to do jobs that would otherwise go undone, there may be a problems. Turns out, most of the H1-B visas go to companies that exist to take U.S. jobs and move them overseas.

2001 - I graduated with a Master's degree in a Midwestern school and not many companies were ready to hire me since they wouldn't sponsor H1 visa especially when there were many local candidates unemployed and didn't require sponsorship. Fair enough.
2012 - I work at a big firm in a remote midwestern town. Every offshoring/outsourcing company has employees here. The first call our HR makes when there is a position to fill is to an offshore vendor and as my manager stated 'once a call is placed, magic happens. The vendor gives us a candidate in no time, who does exactly what we want him/her to do' There is least consideration given to a local candidate nor is any check made on the visas used by the candidates provided by the vendor.(L1/H1/B1/L2)
