Slate creates interactive crowdsourcing project to track gun-related deaths

Gun-related deaths continue to mount in the United States, despite legislative efforts to curb them. Slate is building off the attention trained on these deaths to build an interactive map, using social media, crowdsourcing, and news reports, that tracks gun-related deaths in the United States.

So, next you're going to track deaths by motorcycles? Automobiles cause an unbelievable amount of deaths every year and I'm sure we're all looking to ban motorcycles because they are dangerous machines that kill countless teenagers annually.

You may want to also report on the site Guns Saves Lives, which has a similar map showing incidents where people protected themselves with firearms. It's at http://gunssavelives.net/incident-map/.

I'm not sure how those guns at gunssavelives.net are actually saving lives. Most of the stories are about how a theft is turned into a murder. And then there's stuff like this:
