In November, Minnesota voters will decide on a proposed constitutional amendment that reinforces the state's ban on same-sex marriage. The upcoming election has forced many Somali immigrants to come to terms with their beliefs on gay marriage, an issue many consider taboo.

So Mr. Gama, you flee your country, because of tension due to "disapproval" of other tribes towards your tribal background, and now you enjoy freedom in the USA. Living here enjoying inalienable rights regardless of the identity you proudly hold. However, you want to pass disapproval toward other people's identity, and restrict their freedom.

They say Hate is the result of fear, and fear is produced from the unknown/ignorance, so why don't you gain more knowledge on those you hold disdain toward. I know that you know the feeling of being despised for your identity. You felt its most extreme results in your native home, and as a black, foreigner, and Muslim individual, you must of felt that feeling within your new home.

All I have to say to you, Mr. Gama, is "a wise man learns from other's mistakes." Division, over identity is what set your country into 20 (and counting) years of suffering. They say white hair, is a symbol to identify sagacious individuals, so Mr. Gama, stop and reflect on your own life experiences, and do what is right. Stop this continuous repeat of hate within our human history.
