Spain has long been disconnected from the high-speed rail network that crisscrosses Europe. But no longer. A new line connected Madrid, Barcelona and Paris opened last week.

This doesn't make sense.

It used to take 12+ hours on the 'slow' train and now takes 6 hours and 40 minutes on the fast train with an average speed of 250mph. This means that the average speed of the slow train was at least 100 mph, correct?

I can't understand the Catalan comment either that "the Spanish government built a high speed route all the way to Galicia" whilst ignoring the connection to Europe. Err, hasn't the connection to Europe now been built (and is the subject of this article)? And to my knowledge we have a few years yet before the fast train link is built to Galicia.

It's an easy answer. Catalans like blaming the rest of Spain for everything. They never do anything wrong, it's always someone else.
