Two governors want the federal government to "down-schedule" marijuana as a drug with approved medical uses. But the Health and Human Services administration is resisting. Opponents of down-scheduling say there are marijuana-based medications already on the market that are safe and effective.

Let me remind readers that Kevin Sabet, former Senior Adviser to the director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (not a medical doctor), presided over what is, without dispute, the biggest public health policy failure in the history of mankind - the policy of drug prohibition. Why are we still listening?

Why does PRI think we should then start taking medical advice from some career prohibitionist when my own doctor (yes, that's right, a REAL MEDICAL DOCTOR) has recommend medical marijuana because of its superior safety profile and efficacy?

Why not try the Californian Medical Association? Their official policy explicitly urges the legalisation of medical marijuana on a Federal level. Here's a direct link to their website: http://www.cmanet.org/news/detail?article=cma-urges-legalization-and-regulation-of

Who are you going trust, Kevin Sabet (architect/profiteer of drug prohibition) or a body of highly respected medical doctors?

Isn't the FDA's job to test NEW medications for safety and efficacy? Marijuana has been in use for four thousand years with a perfect safety record. It's efficacy isn't even questioned anymore, even hard core prohibitionists and the government acknowledge it. Our government provides Medical Marijuana, in the form of PRE-ROLLED JOINTS for SMOKING to Patients right now. Just ask Irv Rosenfeld. Now, if I'm wrong about marijuana being exempt from FDA approval, perhaps you can show me where the documents exist detailing their testing and approval of Aspirin?
Kevin Sabet is the official apologist for this government's policies. He can be relied upon to lie and twist the truth at every turn. It's the only job he's ever held, and it's the only thing he knows how to do. He's not even very convincing.
