Finding comfort with Dr. Phil -- Collins that is
After a bad break-up, Starlee Kine finds so much comfort in break-up songs that she tries to write one herself, and gets help from Phil Collins.
Kine admits her relationship with "Anthony" was one of the "corniest" relationships she'd ever been in, and by "corniest," she means greatest. She and Anthony would listen to hours and hours of music, teenager style, playing one song after another, while smiling a lot.
She doesn't quite remember how their Phil Collins phase began, but she thinks it began ironically, with Anthony lip syncing, adorably, to "Against All Odds" one night. But over time, it became less and less ironic, until they were fans.
Anthony broke up with her on New Years Eve.
In the wake of her break-up, Kine finds so much comfort in break-up songs that she tries to write one herself, even though she has no musical ability whatsoever. For some help, she turns to a rather surprising expert on the subject.
Kine got it into her head that it would be great to have Phil Collins help her write a break-up song. She had a friend who was on the road with Phil Collins, during the Genesis reunion tour. She sent Collins an email, and got a call.
