PRI 2010/2011 Annual Report to Donors
From Alisa Miller, PRI's President and CEO
Friends,
In a year marked by dramatic change in the Middle East and global economic upheaval, PRI remained steadfast in the conviction that helping audiences explore and understand today’s world and the global-local connection is of the utmost importance. As always, we delved deeply into important stories and shined a light on people, places and events that might not otherwise have come to the fore. These efforts continue to make PRI the largest provider of broadcast global news in the U.S.
We recognize that news not only shapes how we perceive the world, but how we act in it. In keeping with our commitment as a driver of innovation, we took informed risks and explored new ways to interact with our audiences, enabling them to become more engaged and take action.
To facilitate these efforts, we expanded our partnerships with the BBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and others. We invested in technology, improved the ease and appeal of our websites, and provided opportunities for engagement and community building.
We did this with the goals of creating a deeper and richer experience between PRI and our audiences and of helping them explore and interact with the world. It’s also part of our plan to double our audiences and our impact by 2014. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and support of our many donors, partners, producers, talent, sponsors, stations and audiences for furthering our abilities to realize our goals.
