Public Radio International (PRI) announces the availability of a new iPhone application for live streaming of its 24/7 program channel. Available through PRI.org, the streamed content includes such award-winning programs as PRI's "The World," "The Takeaway," "This American Life" and "The Tavis Smiley Show." The free application is available for iPhone and iPod touch through the iPhone App Store. A complete schedule of the streamed content is on PRI.org, and a future version of the application will display this information as well.

Morgan Church, director of PRI Digital Media Development and Distribution, says, "PRI programs are unique, providing global news and cultural perspectives that help listeners understand our interdependent world. This new application gives listeners one-touch access to our programs, and we're pleased to make them available this additional way."

Founded in 1983, Public Radio International leads media by producing, acquiring and distributing innovative content that enables U.S. audiences to "hear a different voice," bringing new voices, global journalism and cultural perspectives to the American public. Through partnerships with BBC World Service and station-based and independent producers, the Minneapolis-based network provides over 400 hours of programming each week, content that is broadcast and streamed online by over 800 PRI affiliates nationwide, whose radio broadcasts reach over 29 million listeners each week. Podcasts of PRI programs consistently rank in the top U.S. 100. PRI is the managing partner of the satellite radio company American Public Radio LLC, established with Chicago Public Radio®, WGBH Radio Boston and WNYC Radio. PRI programming is available via XM Public Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.

PRI is known for driving innovation in public radio through partnerships with stations, independent producers and other organizations, and for working collaboratively to pool resources, share risk and cultivate new talent. Its newest production is "The Takeaway," a groundbreaking morning-drive news show produced with WNYC Radio. PRI's best known offerings include "This American Life," produced by Chicago Public Radio®; PRI's "The World," a co-production of BBC World Service, PRI and WGBH Radio Boston; "Living on Earth," produced by World Media Foundation Inc.; "Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?®," produced by Wisconsin Public Radio; "The Tavis Smiley Show," produced by Smiley Radio Properties Inc.; and "Studio 360 from PRI and WNYC," produced by PRI and WNYC; as well as 24-hour program services — "Classical 24®," produced by American Public Media™; and BBC World Service, produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
