The last year was a time of beginnings and new directions for PRI, a period of significant investment in our industry’s future.
We believe that by showcasing diverse voices from around the globe we can help people understand our interdependent world. To achieve this vision, we reached out to new talents, informed and engaged listeners in new ways, built on key franchises and launched critically important new initiatives. To transform listenership during morning drive, we began development of an unprecedented effort in public radio to create a new morning program with WNYC, New York Public Radio® and editorial partners BBC World Service, the “New York Times” and WGBH Radio Boston.
We added fresh, new independently-produced programs to the PRI portfolio. And we launched two powerful online tools created for PRI producers and station affiliates to engage listeners in in-depth discussions on issues of importance and to foster community building nationwide. By creating partnerships like these, we remain nimble and efficient in a changing media environment.
